Peer Support Position for Low Barrier Bupe Program at Boise Location
Idaho Harm Reduction Project (IHRP) is looking to hire 2 part-time staff for our new, low-barrier buprenorphine (“bupe” or Suboxone) program at our Boise location. This is a supportive role that will work closely with the Community Relations Program Manager and Medical Services Program Manager. This position requires a deep knowledge of substance use treatment, the local community, and a strong desire to work directly with people who use and inject drugs.
DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES:

Provide compassionate, non-judgmental services to participants

Assist Community Relations Program Manager with outreach and assess the needs of participants in order to connect them with appropriate services

Provide participants with evidence-based harm reduction education and supplies

Track and report on services and activities

In addition to supporting the low-barrier buprenorphine program, assessing the needs of participants to connect them with other appropriate services, including Hepatitis C, STI, and HIV testing; naloxone distribution and overdose prevention; etc.

Assisting participants with Medicaid enrollment as needed

Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

Complete Peer Certification within first 6 months of hire (paid for by IHRP)

Respect for people who use drugs and a commitment to harm reduction philosophy/practices and social justice

People who use(d) drugs, current or former sex workers, people of color, women, members from the LGBTQ+ communities, those who have experienced housing insecurity, people who have received harm reduction services, and people living with HIV/AIDS and/or hepatitis C are strongly encouraged to apply.

Clear communication, strong interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence

Ability to work both independently and in coordination with IHRP team

Basic proficiency with Microsoft and Google programs

Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

$20hr, 20hr/wk (Our Boise medical hours will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12pm-6pm, outreach on Mondays 4:30pm-6:30pm, weekly supervision meeting, weekly team meetings, and monthly team retreats)

Cell phone bill reimbursement, mileage reimbursement.
